Athercroft Cavaliers

We fell in love with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel about 20 years ago when Dee got a tri-color bitch for her daughter.  We could not resist them!  Today, Charlie, Claire and Dee continue the tradition of quality for which Athercroft is known. We are proud of the many champions, performance titles and national specialty wins of the Athercroft Cavaliers. We are most proud, however, of the wonderful Athercroft cavaliers that have enriched the lives of the their owners, friends and communities.  2014NatlCrop

We are members of the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club.  Charlie serves on its Board of Directors and is a Director of the ACKCS Rescue Trust, a 501(c)3 dedicated to the rescue and placement of cavaliers in need. Charlie is also an AKC judge.

We have membership in the regional Blue Ridge Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club. We are proud that our breeding program has achieved Breeder of Merit status with the American Kennel Club.

We are pleased to announce that Charlie was voted by the ACKCSC membership to be its 2018 National Specialty Show judge. Not to be left out, Claire has been asked to be Show Chairman of this annual event.

The History of Athercroft

We have bred Flat-Coated Retrievers under the Athercroft name since 1980.  Before that, our close friend and mentor, Bonnie Conner, bred Athercroft Flat-Coats for about 20 years. Over that span of time, we have produced AKC grand champions, champions and titled dogs in conformation, obedience, rally, agility and field. Dee remains active in Flat-Coat activities and Charlie is a Director of the Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America.
